Clara Cox was the mother of the first owner of The Doll Family, Gertrude. She was the wife of William Seaborn Cox who ordered the Dolls from Wilson & Sons catalogue No. 61. She assisted her husband in unwrapping and putting up the Dolls once they arrived, and when she discovered Baby Betsy she first didn't know what to do with her, but in the end it was she who decided to keep her.
